Our new, Prison Workplace Co-Ordinator, is ready lead our exciting new prison roastery project at HMP Altcourse, in partnership with Sodexo.
This initiative will bring purposeful activity and rehabilitation opportunities to people in custody, providing hands-on training in coffee roasting, grinding and packaging. It will equip participants with valuable skills and real work experience.
For safeguarding reasons, we cannot share our new team member’s name publicly, but we can assure you they are just as passionate about this work as we are.
Our new Prison Workplace Co-Ordinator is no stranger to military life. Their partner served in the Army alongside our Founder, Nigel, and they know first-hand the impact PTSD can have on individuals and their families.
They said:
“This is a role I know I will thoroughly enjoy.
“I love a challenge and this is a chance to do something positive for ex-military and others who need support.”
In their role, they will oversee the day-to-day operations of the roastery project, ensuring a smooth-running, productive environment that helps participants build confidence, skills, and a sense of purpose.
They told us:
“When this opportunity came up, I jumped at it.
It’s an honour to be part of something that supports people through difficult times.”
“Creating meaningful employment and rehabilitation opportunities, particularly for veterans in custody, is something I feel strongly about.”
When not at work, you’ll find our Prison Workplace Co-Ordinator spending time with friends and family, enjoying the theatre, live music, comedy shows, concerts, and festivals.
We’re proud to welcome them to the Combat2Coffee team and can’t wait to see the impact this project will have on those who take part.
