From bean to cup
Our core blends are crafted from premium coffee beans which are sustainably sourced and traceable from a family run farm in Brazil. Through a direct trade partnership rooted in fairness and transparency, we help create long-term security, stability, and wellbeing for the farming family behind every cup.
Green beans are imported directly from the farm in Brazil and then delivered to our roastery in Ipswich. Once they reach our roastery, the beans are roasted by our volunteers. Our current weekly roasting capacity is up to 2.5 tonnes, with the ability to scale production to meet growing demand.
Roasted beans then go through our vigorous quality control checks, which involve cupping protocol and tasting to ensure every batch meets all standards. The coffee cupping score developed goes from 0 to 100 and only coffees scoring 80 points or above earn the internationally recognised Specialty Coffee status. Our coffee proudly achieves a specialty grading score of 83.
Once roasted, the beans are rested and allowed to degas for a minimum of 48 hours before being carefully hand-packaged, labelled, and prepared for distribution across the UK, supporting employment and opportunity at every stage of the process.
We currently supply coffee to sites across: Suffolk, Surrey, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Kent, Glasgow, Yorkshire, Manchester, Leicestershire, Essex, Staffordshire, Salisbury, Hampshire, and Wiltshire.
Our blends
St George’s is our core blend. This smooth Brazilian coffee delivers a beautifully balanced profile, featuring unique red plum taste with subtle notes of almond and dark chocolate.
Spill the Beans is our St George’s blend under a different name and identity. While the coffee remains the same, the message is broader.
Spill the Beans is Combat2Coffee’s non-military related sister brand that aims to create conversations across the country, allowing those who may struggle in day-to-day life to speak out through the power of coffee.
Both Combat2Coffee and Spill the Beans exist for the same reason: to fund opportunities where the armed forces community can connect with each other and with our Outreach Team.
Alongside our core blend, we create bespoke coffees including Fusion, exclusively served at Sizewell C, The King’s Colour, developed in collaboration with British Airways, and Butch’s Brew, created in honour of our patron and football legend Terry Butcher.
